A Moving Remembrance Day Poem

‘We Don’t Feel It’ Written by Kayla French

Our President, Brad French‘s daughter penned this very moving poem to honour those who serve our country.

We Don’t Feel It

We think we’ve felt pain
when we scrape our knee,
but not like the soldiers
who get hurt daily.
We don’t feel it.

We say we are starving
when we have a late lunch,
but not like the soldiers
who don’t get very much.
We don’t feel it.

We think we’ve felt anger
and roll all around,
but not like the soldiers
out on the battle grounds.
We don’t feel it.

We think we’ve felt sadness
when someone dies,
but not like the soldiers
who gave up their lives.
We don’t feel it.

I think Kayla’s words speak to all of us who sometimes forget what life is like for the brave men and women who defend our beautiful country. This Remembrance Day, please wear your poppy and join this great nation in a moment of silence to remember and honour all those men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. Lest we forget.
