The History of Alliance Wireless Communications

The history of most companies are hard to find.  Most websites show you what they want you to see, and what will help them sell their products.  Our website  is not really any different.  Except we have a blog, which allows us to present our thoughts a little differently.  So I am going to take the time to share our history in the Telephone Answering Service industry or the Call Answering Service Industry, depending on what title you prefer.

 

1948 – Gord Leech Opened Telephone Answering Service of Kingston (possibly the first mobile licensee in Ontario)

1966- Jack French Opened Kingston Secretary Service, a Telephone Answering Service and the first Paging Company in Kingston

1972- Both Telephone Answering Service of Kingston and Kingston Secretary Service were purchased and merged by Maclean-Hunter Paging.  Jack French became the Manager

1977- Jack French bought back both companies from Maclean-Hunter Paging and renamed them Alliance Communications

1978- Alliance Communications celebrates its 30th year in business

1985- Alliance Communications entered into the cellular business by purchasing Trans Eastern Communications

1987- Alliance Communications had over 3500 pagers on service in Kingston and surrounding area

1988- Alliance Communications celebrates its 40th year in business

1995-The paging industry was slowly crumbling as the cost of cellular phones continued to drop.

1997-  Alliance Communications changed its name from Alliance Communications to Alliance Wireless Communications.

1998- Alliance Wireless Communications celebrates its 50th year in business

2000- After surviving Y2K, Alliance refocuses its marketing efforts on the Telephone Answering Service Industry, while the paging industry was in a major decline.

2004- Jack French sells the company to his son Brad French.

2005- Alliance Wireless Communications sold the Mobile Radio Repair Shop to Christie & Walthur Group of companies

2005- With a complete focus on Telephone Answering Service, Alliance ranks #1 in Quality by the Association of Tele-Services International (ATSI).

2006- For a second straight year Alliance ranks #1 in Quality by the Association of Tele-Services International (ATSI).

2006- Formed Director On Call, a Telephone Answering Services that services the Funeral Home Industry in partnership with Frontrunner Professional a funeral home software and website provider.

2007- Alliance Wireless Communications is ranked #2 in Quality by the Canadian Association of Message Exchange (CAM-X)

2008- Alliance Wireless Communications Celebrates its 60th year in business

2010- Winners of the National ‘Diamond + Award’ in 2010 for eleven consecutive years of outstanding call service by the Canadian Association of Message Exchange (CAM-X)

2010- Alliance Wireless Communications establishes its presence in social media with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

2011- Alliance Wireless Communications launches new website and Blog, integrated with social media. www.alliancewireless.com/blog
