You never know when someone will be in crisis and to what degree. The speed of response is also very important in order to successfully respond to someone in crisis.

I spoke with Stacey Dowling about how FCMHAS uses our answering service.

What is your job position with Frontenac Community Mental Health and Addiction Services? 

I am a Client Services Manager at FCMHAS working with our Crisis, Access, Transitional Case Management, Court and Addiction Services.

What motivates you?

I am motivated to try and make a difference for the client’s we serve in the community.

What are some of the challenges you face regularly at your job?

Our Crisis Services are very busy and provide many competing demands on the service. Our primary responsibility is to ensure the client’s receive the services they need when they need them.

What were some of the challenges the organization faced before hiring an answering service?

The challenges that we experienced prior to hiring the answering service was many missed calls to our Crisis Services. The ability to have our Crisis lines answered allows our clients to connect with a ‘real’ person and ensures that each call is transferred successfully to our skilled Crisis staff.

How has Alliance been able to address those challenges?

Alliance is able to answer our calls when our Crisis Lines are occupied and provides messages to our Crisis Staff for follow up.
